Leveraging digital platforms for agricultural advancement, the Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane Development Council has trained over 0.9 million sugarcane farmers through Facebook Live sessions.
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this initiative aims to equip farmers with modern techniques, contributing to UP’s position as the leading state in cane production and productivity.
The Council has been running this programme since February 2024.
The Facebook Live training sessions have not only benefited farmers in UP but cane growers in Uttarakhand and Nepal too owing to digital reach.
By integrating expert guidance from sugarcane research institutions, these live sessions offer farmers insights into advanced farming techniques while addressing their queries in real time.
The initiative ensures quick and effective knowledge dissemination, enabling farmers to adopt best practices for increased yield and productivity.
In just one year, the programme actively engaged more than 1.5 million farmers with over 0.91 million directly participating in the training sessions.
The Council conducts free training programs not only through Facebook Live but also through traditional methods at research institutes.
Additionally, training camps were held in Meerut, Rampur, Lakhimpur, Bareilly, Hardoi, Pilibhit, and even Nepal.
The main objective is to educate farmers about improved cane varieties and modern farming techniques.
