The Uttar Pradesh government is working on a roadmap to deploy drones for public services beyond the domain of policing.

The Drone Task Force constituted under the chairmanship of UP additional chief secretary, home, is preparing a blueprint for the regulation, manufacturing and manpower training with regards to the usage of drones in the state.

The task force has representation of senior officials of different departments including industrial development, revenue, technical education, MSME, civil aviation and police apart from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University.

To take the agenda forward, about a dozen drone companies gave a presentation during a special workshop to promote the application of drones in different fields and to nurture a conducive ecosystem for the technology.

The companies showcased the successful drone usage in different avenues including agriculture, crime control, geo-mapping, patrolling, urban planning, highways surveillance, defence, crowd management etc.

Meanwhile, the UP government also invited the drone manufactures to set up production units in the state to avail of the various incentives offered in the proposed Defence Corridor in the state.
