Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur has beaten pandemic blues with a bullish campus placement season, which has witnessed more than 1,000 job offers so far by global and Indian companies.

In the current ongoing season, which started on December 1, the Institute received 1,062 offers at the end of Day 8, of which 885 were accepted. This is in addition to the 156 pre-placement offers (PPOs) already accepted, out of 207 offered.

According to a IIT Kanpur spokesperson, the students received 47 international offers, a jump of 150 percent over last year when only 19 international offers were received. The highest packages stood at US$ 274,250 for international and Rs 1.2 crore for domestic profiles. In total, 49 offers above Rs one crore have so far been received.

Top recruiters comprise Axtria, EXL, Graviton, Goldman Sachs, ICICI Bank, Intel, Microsoft, OLA, Rubrik, Samsung, Quadeye, Uber, Tiger Analytics among others.

“IIT Kanpur is known for academic excellence. The new highs being witnessed this year is indicative of the growing trust recruiters are bestowing upon the Institute and its students, despite the pandemic-induced challenges,” Institute Director Prof Abhay Karandikar noted.

Registered in 1959, IIT Kanpur was assisted by nine leading institutions of the USA in the setting up of its academic programs and laboratories during the period 1962-72. With its record of path-breaking innovations and cutting-edge research, it is widely reckoned as a learning centre of repute in engineering, science, and several interdisciplinary areas.
