The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is looking to catalyze India’s flagship ‘Aatmanirbha Bharat’ (self reliant India) theme in domestic infrastructure development.

Taking the agenda forward, the CII organised a roadshow in Lucknow on Wednesday evening to announce EXCON 2022, which is South Asia’s largest construction equipment (CE) and construction technology trade fair.

The event witnessed the participation of senior UP government officials along with industry leaders and stakeholders from the infra and construction equipment sector.

EXCON will be organised by the CII during May 17-21, 2022 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, Bengaluru in Karnataka.

It will be spread over 300,000 square meters of display area and expected to attract 1,000+ exhibitors from India & abroad including USA, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, UAE, South Korea, Singapore and Sri Lanka.

The 5-day exhibition is estimated to attract over 40,000 business visitors from all over the world.

Addressing the gathering, UP PWD special secretary Girijesh Kumar Tyagi said the concept of reduce, reuse and recycle is now imperative in the infra sector.

Ammann India managing director Anand Sundaresan said the 11th edition of EXCON will exemplify the role of smart technologies and innovation in India’s infra development to achieve the vision of making India a global hub for CE manufacturing by 2030.

India’s CE industry, being the world’s 3rd largest market, currently holds a prominent position in the global landscape. India’s ambitious National Infrastructure Pipeline would augur well for the domestic CE industry to become the 2nd largest market globally with a size of USD 25 billion by 2030.

EXCON endeavours to build India’s infra in an ecologically sustainable manner, enabling projects on Smart Cities, supporting Swachh Bharat programmes, promoting skill development and positioning ‘Make In India’ for achieving holistic growth in the infra and related sectors.

Meanwhile, CII UP State Council chairman and Technical Associates Industries CEO Vinamra Agarwal opined that encouraging the adoption of world-class technologies for speedy implementation of infrastructure projects is much needed today.
